Greetings from Portugal

Summer is a great time to focus on self-care. The warmer weather allows us to be outside and to do different outdoor activities.
Here are some ideas for self-care during the summer:
A morning walk on the weekends before it gets too hot.
Evening walks after dinner with a friend/spouse.
A bike ride by the beach or in a park.
Swimming laps in a pool, starting at 5 minutes and building up to 20-25 minutes.
Quiet time in the morning to journal. Sit outside in your backyard, garden, near the beach or in a park. Let your thoughts flow while sitting in nature.
Meditation in nature (park, beach) adds an element of grounding. Allow your feet to touch the earth. Feel the grass or sand and how that connection creates grounding.
Take time for “quiet me time.” 10–30 minutes can do wonders for your mental health. You don’t have to do anything, you can just relax and listen to the surrounding sounds.
Food: Add in lighter foods, such as fresh summer salads, homemade cole slaw and grilled vegetables.
What will you do for self-care this summer?
